Support EMUFT in the face of Right to Work: your 0.3% additional dues will help to solidify our economic base to keep us strong and able to pay expenses including grievance/arbitration fees, staffing, office expenses, and additional resources. Become a member to vote for officers, approve the budget, and participate in bargaining.
Support EMUFT as a community of lecturers: we are committed to making EMU a great place for teaching and learning, for lecturers and for students. Our workplace is our students' learning space.
Help raise the visibility of lecturers on campus by attending actions and events. Lecturers make up nearly 50% of teaching faculty at EMU. Over 600 lecturers, 40% of faculty on campus, are part-time and have no benefits and little job security from one semester to the next. Part-time lecturers are paid per class and not compensated when their scheduled classes are cancelled. Many full-time lecturers make less than half the salary of tenure-line faculty and teach more classes per year. Help spread the word that our teaching conditions affect our students' learning conditions. We want to make EMU great for everyone because we are dedicated to teaching and real quality education.
Help support other EMUFT members when they are struggling, need assistance, or just want to share stories. We have a great diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and expertise among our membership. Let's use that to become stronger together!
